Plant with 1 to 1.5" of media over the tuber, rounded side down, sprouts (eyes) up.

Pot sizes below 4.5" standard are more difficult to grow due to root volume restriction (especially in clay pots). Additional care and management of fertility and irrigation are required in small or shallow pots because plants tend to be weaker, more easily stressed and therefore, more disease prone.
